The designer may appear to be expressionless but Karl Lagerfeld’s sense of humour is legendary, just like his fashion creations. This is the man, after all, who showed the Chanel Spring Summer 2014 collection in a makeshift supermarket with tags indicating an increase in prices and has immortalised his pet cat Choupette and himself in adorable Tokidoki figurines.
This time, Kaiser Karl has truly outdone himself in the cute department.

We first saw the ridiculously cute Karlito hang off the fingers of Cara Delevinge as she closed the Autumn Winter 2014 Fendi show. The mini Lagerfeld bag bug is a silver fox body dressed in the designer’s trademark outfit including black mink sunglasses, black tie in nappa leather, and a kiddasia fur crest to celebrate his relationship with the Italian luxury label – the longest ever between a designer and fashion house.
Karlito-mania started the moment the bag bug appeared on the runway with waiting lists for the limited edition accessory starting in June 2014. The first Karlitos will make their way home with shoppers starting from September 2014. But the lucky guests like Miroslava Duma, The Man Repeller Leandra Medine and more got to cuddle with the cutie – Karlito not Lagerfeld – at the first one year anniversary of Fend’s Avenue Montaigne flapship store and celebration of the designer and label’s successful working partnership earlier this week on July 8.

So what’s the secret behind Lagerfeld’s long run with Fendi? Pietro Beccari, CEO of Fendi told AFP Relaxnews, "You should ask him! My explanation is that he's having fun. He likes to be stimulated, he's very curious, he's a very young mind, and I think that Fendi is a stimulating brand. He's having fun and he feels at home, he feels inspired by the people and the city of Rome."
The other half’s answer was typically enigmatic. Lagerfeld said to AFP Relaxnews, "There's no 'why?', because it (just) works. The answer is the result."
