Christina Hendricks likes to look “put together”.
The curvy actress is famed for her portrayal of Joan Holloway in the popular AMC series Mad Men. The television show set during the ‘60s is known for its style; with the impressive on-screen fashion inspiring high street collections.
Christina says she looks to her character for ideas when it comes to her personal style.
“I’ve learned a little bit from her. I like to sort of be ‘put together’. I’ve actually been a fan of being a bit more covered up than Joan I’ve always believed that’s a very sophisticated and sexy look. I have certainly learned silhouettes from Joan,” she explained to British magazine Hello!
“I wear a lot more pencil skirts and things like that – I realise that they look good on everybody. Sometimes there are dresses that Joan doesn’t end up wearing, and every once in a while I will borrow one for an event.”
Christina has revealed a change in Joan’s style for the new season. The beauty says the character will always wear something that flatters her womanly body shape though.
“We’ve definitely modernised,” she said.
“Joan knows what works for her so she’s not going to change dramatically. But the colour palette and the fabrics change.”
Mad Men also stars Jon Hamm, Vincent Kartheiser and John Slattery.
Christina admires the dapper style of her male co-stars.
“They all look so sharp. It’s just the idea that men didn’t kick and fight when they had to put on a suit. I like a man in a suit,” she revealed.
“My husband wears suits all the time. He feels comfortable in them. I do have to say that I like the freedom that men have with their hair now. I don’t particularly like the short, slicked look.”
