Natalie Portman has been trying to dress “like a lady” since becoming a mother.
The Black Swan star gave birth to her son Aleph, her first child with her partner Benjamin Millepied, in June last year. While comfortable clothes may seem like a more viable choice for busy mothers, Natalie’s style has only become more glamorous.
"I've been trying to look more like a lady recently," she told WWD.
"I used to be happy in a T-shirt and sweatpants, and now I feel like I want to make myself a little more grown-up - now that I'm a mom."
The 30-year-old has received fashion nods for her feminine choice of gowns at red carpet events. She turned heads in a stunning off-the-shoulder purple dress by Rodarte at last year’s Oscars where she won the best actress award for her role in Black Swan.
The face of the Miss Dior fragrance is also a fan of vintage clothes.
"I feel like you are sort of stepping into history," she said. "It's really amazing to get the story of where a dress has been; you know that it has lived through many people's stories."
Natalie showed her love of vintage at this year’s Academy Awards in a gorgeous 1954 Christian Dior gown. The ensemble, which boasted a strapless design and black polka-dots, was sold for $50,000 to an unknown British couture collector in London, according to the New York Post.
The actress borrowed the dress from couture dealer Rare Vintage, who then went on to sell it.
