Tea is really starting to replace breakfast as my favourite mealtime.
When the midday munchies strike, what better way is there to satiate them than with a nice, hot cup of tea, some biscuits or a slice of cake?
Not to mention, there are so many restaurants and cute bistros offering high tea treats and buffets that foodies are spoiled for choice. Now you can add one more place to list -- Marina Mandarin’s Atrium Lounge has just launched a high-tea buffet for the first time.
And it’s not just macarons and sweet pastries on offer here, although the buffet does have its fair share, of course -- bread and butter pudding with vanilla sauce, carrot scones with butter, clotted cream or strawberry jam, mini lemon tarts, durian spring rolls, pandan kaya cake just to name a few.
There’s also international cuisine to choose from like egg cocotte (eggs cooked in a water bath) with smoked salmon, dhal vegetable curry (with prata to go along with it), dim sum (including local faves chwee kueh and siew mai), Thai papaya salad, grilled bratwurst with sauteed onion, wok fried Hong Kong noodles with seafood and more in the extensive menu list.
Being a bit of a Japanese cuisine-lover, I like that the hotel added in a range of Japanese bites like soba, california maki rolls and other sushi.
Forgoing lunch would be a good idea before coming to this delectable spread.
Marina Mandarin’s High-tea buffet ($35++ per person) is available on weekends from 3 to 5pm at its Atrium Lounge, Level 4. Tel: 6845 1111.
