Balenciaga's eagerly anticipated Florabotanica fragrance campaign starring Twilight actress Kristen Stewart has been revealed, with the modern images standing apart from a classic seductress style aesthetic.
Stewart teams chunky footwear with a structured floral-print dress by the label for the colourful Steven Meisel-shot campaign, where she maintains a strong stance with her hands in her pockets.
"I think that's kind of perfect for this particular ad. Usually, a fragrance ad would definitely be [sexy]," Stewart told WWD.
"When I first stood there, I was like, 'OK, do you want me to show the curves of the dress? Do you want me to stand like this? Like that?' And they were like, 'Just be comfortable.'"
Stewart follows in the footsteps of French musician and actress Charlotte Gainsbourg, who was selected as the face of the label's debut fragrance Balenciaga Paris when it was launched in 2010.
The 22-year-old's Balenciaga job sees her follow in the footsteps of Twilight co-stars Dakota Fanning and Ashley Greene in landing modelling gigs, with the latter being DKNY's latest face and Fanning fronting the campaign for Marc Jacobs's Oh, Lola! scent.
Florabotanica, which is set to hit stores in destinations including the US, UK and France this September, is aimed at younger consumers aged 18 plus.
