Retro is always in style. Topshop knows that, and that’s why its Autumn Winter 2012 collection is chock-full of high hemlines and necklines, monochrome separates, tweed jackets and all things ‘60s.

The high street label’s latest collection is split into four main lines, with Scandi Girl presenting an assortment of loose embroidered knits and faux fur jackets, in houndstooth prints and autumn-appropriate dark berry shades.

For something a little more Singapore-appropriate, there’s the Sensationalist series which goes heavy on disco glamour: Jewel-encrusted button-up shirts, shimmery fringed dresses and sequin skirts are just some of the party-ready garb you’ll need for the year-end festive season.

What will really work hard for you, all year round, are pieces from the Factory Girl and Band Camp lines. The former won’t make you look like Edie Sedgwick, however. Instead of Edie’s trademark LBD-and-tights look, there are Mod-inspired boucle jackets, turtlenecks, tartan jeans and preppy satchels, plucked right out of ‘60s London.

For a sartorial statement, take notes from the Band Camp line: We love the tried-and-tested ensembles of androgynous separates like oversized leather jackets and faded denim vests, worn with dainty lace midis and flowy bohemian dresses.

Topshop’s Autumn Winter 2012 collection will be available in stores from September 2012. For more information, visit www.topshop.com
