Q: Whenever I’m with my boyfriend, he is constantly stealing glances at girls who walk by. I find this very disrespectful. What can I do to make him stop? Why do guys always have to look at girls walking by?
A: Buy him some sunglasses? Kidding, sort of. Unfortunately, there isn’t anything you can do. In fact the more you complain the better he will hide his movements and the worse off your relationship will be.
You see, guys can’t help but be observant, and what we most like to observe is girls. Now there is a tasteful way to look and an obvious way. I’m going to assume he isn’t one of those guys that has his head on a swivel mimicking the movements of an owl. That would be bad, and yes, you should tell your boyfriend to knock it off if he is doing that. Most guys check girls out in a very stealthy 007 way. A second long glance and then they are back to your eyes.
By constantly complaining you are not only annoying him but it’s also showing him that you don’t trust him. You know what guys hate? A jealous girl. Flimsy relationships are built on this, yours should be deeper. In fact, I bet if you shared a conversation with him about the girl he was checking out, he would appreciate you more. Don’t come off as petty, and participate and appreciate another girl’s beauty.
By demonstrating that you aren’t offended at his glances he will value you more and look at girls a lot less. Because in the back of his mind he’s asking, “why doesn’t my girlfriend care anymore?” Boom, you have his attention again.
