Apply a base coat of clear shine polish, then two coats of baby blue on top. Next add pink spots for the roses, outlined with a darker red tone using a thin brush. Fill in the petal details in the darker colour, then switch to two tones of green for the leaves. Finish the look by sealing it with a topcoat of clear shine. |
| Nail art: create a Snake Skin Effect on nails with David Barton for Maybelline Snakeskin was seen on the Spring 2013 runway at Gucci, Erdem and Proenza Schouler (among others), and python effect nails are a fun choice to go with spring metallics. Nail artist David Barton suggests starting your snakeskin nails with a neutral base coat, then adding two coats of taupe coloured polish. The snakeskin look is created by adding gold lacquer to a sponge -- dab off any excess and gently sponge the nail with the metallic tone. An onyx black tone is painted onto mesh netting, which is then stuck in place on top of the nail. Trim off the excess netting with scissors and tidy up the nails, then finish the look with a coat of transparent polish to provide a smooth finish. “It’s so easy to do,” says David.
