Ladies who are “draped in diamonds” should wear less makeup, says a top cosmetics artist.
Dior National Makeup Artist Jamie Coombes has given some top tips on how to ensure your face always looks its best. He advises considering your outfit before slapping on your makeup.
“Individual style is key when creating a red carpet look, but as a rule it’s good to have a pop of colour on either the eyes, lips or cheeks,” he told graziadaily.co.uk at the Cannes Film Festival.
“Ladies wearing less jewels can work a bolder eye look than those draped in diamonds.”
Jamie also explained how he goes about making up stars at the prestigious event. He makes skin look flawless, but is careful it doesn’t look overloaded with product.
“The thing to bear in mind is that red carpet makeup is quite different for example, from the make-up that you’d create for a studio shoot. The hundreds of flash-bulbs mean that foundation must be kept to a minimal and should be used to perfect, not mask the face,” he explained.
He also likened a slash of red lipstick to a “jewel” which helps “dress” the face. © Cover Media
